Is there a way to present text that starts higher up on the screen. I know that the default is to be centered on the screen - but if there is a way to move everything up slightly, that would work better for my purposes.

Yes. In the Stimulus tab of the event editor, click Settings. Position is the second tab in the dialog that comes up. Everything is relative to the center of the screen. Positive x is to the right, and positive y is up.
