Sampling Rate of the SV-1 Voice Key

Hi everyone,

I am conducting research at a laboratory, where I am currently using the SV-1 Voice Key for cognitive psychology experiments. For writing my paper and giving presentations at the lab, I need to know and confirm its sampling rate. However, I could not find this information on the official website.

My question is: What is the sampling rate of the SV-1 Voice Key?
If anyone knows, could you kindly share this information with me?

Thank you in advance for your help!

The concept of sampling rate is typically used when a device has an analog-to-digital (A/D) converter. In this case, sampling rate refers to how often the device is “reading” the converted digital value.

Our devices do not use an A/D converter. They use a fully analog circuit called a “comparator”. This is comparing in real time the voltage that is detected from the microphone (speech envelope) with the voltage that is set when you adjust the threshold in SV-1. When one rises above the other, the comparator generates a signal to the microprocessor, which in turn generates data that is sent via the serial port / USB port.

Our StimTracker Quad and Riponda products have a built-in voice key feature (which is why we have retired SV-1). Both use the same comparator approach, albeit a more modern and up-to-date one.
