Pseudo-randomization stops early

Hi all,

I’m building an experiment in SuperLab. I have 18 trials of 4 types of stimuli in total:

  • A, B, C each appear 4 times

  • D appears 6 times (I added 2 extra D’s to test)

My rule is: in any 3 consecutive trials, the three types must all be different (e.g., A‑B‑A is not allowed).

I followed the forum instructions to randomise the order (randomization: no more than 3 trials of the same type in a row), but when I run it, the experiment stops after 17 trials and the last one was not presented. I checked the output file and it seems the remaining trial couldn’t be placed because it would break the rule.

Is there any way to avoid this problem? Since I’m a new user, the demo experiment file can be found in the drive (Experiment File). Any advice would be great. Thanks in advance!
