Arrington Viewpoint and SuperLab

We are at an impasse.
Although we have run many experiments in the past with Arrington Viewpoint and SuperLab Pro, the serial port connection no longer sends strings to the Viewpoint computer (Windows 7 and Windows XP) from the SuperLab Pro (Windows 7 and Windows XP). The Baud rates and the com ports are the same. It has been tested out with and without internet access. We tried one system with SuperLab 4.0 but it was not working. We tried switching the COM ports without success. We turned off the firewalls on both computers, booted as administrators to the system.

For sending strings to Viewpoint, Internet access makes no difference —*only the COM port needs to be functioning.

When you say the “serial port connection no longer sends strings”, is that on the same computer hardware? Has something else changed, e.g. installed new OS?

We tried it on several different computer configurations including XP-Windows 7, Windows 7-Windows 7, XP-XP. We believe it is the same set up. We checked with Arrington and gave them the individual VP board numbers. We tried installing the most current version 2.9 without success on one system, but kept the older versions of VP from different experimental rooms.

There is a small difference in the baud rate 57600 Viewpoint vs 56000 on SuperLab-could this create a problem.

Thanks for such a prompt response. We really appreciate it!

57600 vs 56000 baud rate is not a small difference, it will guarantee it not to work.
