Multiple Audio File Presentation--Hard Pan

Hello all,

I was wondering if it is at all possible to play two sounds at the same time in superlab but in different ears?

Thank you!

Yes it is. There are a couple of approaches that you can use.

One, using a sound editor, you can mix the two sounds to obtain a single dual-track (stereo) sound file. This approach gives you sub-millisecond precision but is less flexible if you need to randomize a combination of sound files.

Or two, if randomization is needed, you can make superlab play two separate sound clips by using two audio events. Have both audio events use an audio setting that allows audio to play all the way through (in the Stimulus tab) but set the first event to “end immediately” in the Input tab.

With the dual event approach, you can even use two list-based events that are linked to one SuperLab trial, with pairing/unpairing and randomization determine by the options in the Trial Editor’s List Access tab.
