Movie File No Audio

Dear Staff,

We have designed an experiment involving movie files. However, while running the experiment you cannot hear the movie file audio in Superlab 5.0. There is no problem with my movie file, because the video (including audio) worked fine in Superlab 4.5. The movie file and the computer audio also work fine standing alone.

Is there a bug or software update that we should be aware of?

Thank you kindly,

Ben

We are not aware of a bug like this. Can you post your experiment as an Experiment Package, this is found under the File menu within SuperLab.

Also, are you on a PC or Mac? What Operating System are you running?

Movie File No Audio Reply

Hi-

Thank you for your response.

I attached a zip package of a short sample sample script we made where the video works but not the audio.

We are using a PC with Windows 7, Service Pack, 1, 64 bit.

Thank you again,

Ben

Thank you for posting the small demo experiment. The problem seems to be with the particular codec used for audio encoding in this AVI.

The audio encoding is: Dolby AC3 (stereo, 48000 Hz)

Please re-encode using a simpler encoding. The metadata on this file show that it was created with something called “SUPER©.v2013.bld.57+Recorder”. Perhaps inside the “SUPER©.v2013.bld.57+Recorder” software you can find a setting to change the audio encoding.

Here is an audio encoding that we can confirm works with SuperLab on Windows 7:

- uncompressed PCM (stereo, 48000 Hz)

To investigate which encoding is present in a particular file, you can use a tool such as “MediaInfo.”
