RB-840 "Device Descriptor Request Failed"

Hi all, We purchased an RB-840 response pad, but we’ve been unable to get it working. I’ve tried setting it up on different machines, uninstalling and re-installing the drivers, different USB ports, but nothing seems to work.

When the response pad is plugged in, it shows up in the Windows Device Manager under “Universal Serial Bus controllers” as “Unknown USB Device (Device Descriptor Request Failed)”. I’ve tried searching for this error, but it seems too generic to yield any useful results.

Device status info from the Device Manager:

Windows has stopped this device because it has reported problems. (Code 43)

A request for the USB device descriptor failed.

We’re running Windows 8.1, in case that’s relevant. Any ideas about how to get it working?

Thanks,

Did Windows install the driver automatically? Please try downloading and installing this driver.

The driver did not install automatically, so we have tried installing the driver manually and the problem persists.

This might be a hardware issue with the response pad. Please send an email to arrange for a return.

Will do. Thanks Hisham!
