SuperLab 4.5.2 Is Now Available

SuperLab 4.5.2 is a significant stability release. It fixes all the movie- and audio-related bugs reported to us and provides a number of other improvements.

Notes Before You Upgrade

We recommend that all users upgrade to version 4.5.2. However, please note the following before doing so:

 • You can open all experiments saved in SuperLab version 4.0 or later. Experiments saved in 4.5.2 can also be opened in 4.5 and 4.5.1, but not earlier versions.
 • First, see below the list of supported audio and movie file formats.

Improvements

 • Experiment files can now be opened by dragging-and-dropping them over the SuperLab icon on the dock (for Mac) or the SuperLab window frame (on Windows).

 • When previewing a picture, text, or movie in the Event Editor, grid lines are now enabled by default.

 • [Mac] Added support for Mac OS file systems that are formatted with case-sensitive file naming.

 • [Windows] Improved error handling when a Measurement Computing I/O device is not installed or configured properly.

Bug Fixes

 • All known bugs for the Movie File event type have been fixed.

Windows: the minimum requirement continues to be Direct X 9 with VMR9.

Mac: the minimum requirement is now QuickTime version 7.6.4 (note: this is not the same version number as the QuickTime player app).

 • All known bugs for the Audio File event type have been fixed. The supported file formats on both platforms are: WAV, AIFF, AIF, AIFC, CDDA, AU, SND, CAF, FLAC, MAT, OGG, OGA, VOC, and W64.

Note: MP3 and WMA file formats are not supported by Audio File, but they may play if you open them in the Movie File event type.

 • Fixed bug where a string input response was not being saved if event was set to end on a time limit.

 • When using a trial variable that has just two or three levels, e.g. two screen locations, the distribution between the two was not even. Fixed.

 • Fixed a bug that, under some conditions, caused the main experiment window to stay visible while an experiment is running.

 • Fixed some crashes that occurred when trying to edit a locked experiment (an experiment can be locked to avoid accidental changes to it; click on Experiment menu and then on Lock).

 • Fixed a bug where events presented as feedback were sometimes ending on the wrong time limit.

 • [Windows] Fixed a bug where some Audio File events prevented you from canceling an experiment by pressing the Esc key.

 • [Mac] Using string input with movies sometimes failed to work. Fixed.
